Written comments received are attached and include the meeting <br /> summary from the County Clerk for the Board's April 5, 2016 meeting; comments from <br /> the Orange County Housing Coalition and from the Health Department. It should also be <br /> noted that a Disability Awareness Council Meeting was scheduled for April 22, 2016, 1:30 <br /> PM during their conference, but cancelled due to the leader of the group requiring <br /> unexpected surgery. <br /> The Proposed AHSP and community comments received are scheduled to be discussed at the <br /> Work Session of the Board on May 10th at SHSC. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact regarding the discussion of the Proposed <br /> 2016— 2020 Affordable Housing Strategic Plan. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are applicable <br /> to this agenda item: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding necessary for <br /> residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for themselves and their <br /> dependents. <br /> The creation and preservation of affordable housing options helps to meet a basic need and <br /> advances economic self-sufficiency. <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, gang <br /> activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> Affordable housing options allow individuals to reduce risks associated with being unhoused. <br /> • GOAL: FOSTER A COMMUNITY CULTURE THAT REJECTS OPPRESSION AND <br /> INEQUITY <br /> The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race or color; <br /> religious or philosophical beliefs; sex, gender or sexual orientation; national origin or ethnic <br /> background; age; military service; disability; and familial, residential or economic status. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board consider the comments <br /> provided, discuss the Proposed 2016 — 2020 Affordable Housing Strategic Plan and provide <br /> direction to staff to provide the final AHSP. <br />
