Petitions by Board Members <br /> Commissioner Jacobs petitioned that the legislature not convene this year. He <br /> identified potential economic fallout from legislation. <br /> Commissioner Price said that former Chapel Hill Mayor Sandy McClamroch also passed <br /> away. <br /> Commissioner Price petitioned the Board to formally oppose HB2 as it relates to <br /> discrimination and the stripping of local authority from municipalities and counties. She said <br /> various cities have passed similar resolutions. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin petitioned for a post-election report from the Board of Elections. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin gave props to the Board of Elections, noting their great efforts, <br /> in response to a Board of County Commissioners' (BOCC) request, reaching out to formally <br /> incarcerated persons about getting re-registered, etc. <br /> Chair McKee asked the Manager to follow up on Commissioner Dorosin's requested <br /> report. <br /> Commissioner Rich echoed Commissioner Dorosin's request for the post election <br /> report. <br /> Commissioner Rich said when meeting summaries are sent out to be sure to include <br /> the break down on how commissioners vote on contested motions. <br /> Donna Baker said this is done in the minutes and can also be done in the summaries. <br /> Commissioner Rich congratulated Smith Middle School where students were active in <br /> creating a gender-neutral bathroom. <br /> Commissioner Pelissier had no petitions. <br /> Commissioner Burroughs had no petitions. <br /> Chair McKee said he agreed with Commissioner Price's petition to oppose HB2, as it <br /> covered a lot more than just the bathroom issue. He said it impinged on county government's <br /> ability to voice their residents' opinions. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs requested that part of the resolution note the importance of <br /> having an open governmental process. <br /> 6.
