46 <br /> AP-60 Public Housing - 91.420, 91.220(h) <br /> Introduction <br /> The Orange County Department of Housing, Human Rights, and Community Development manages 623 <br /> Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. The number of landlords who accept Section 8 Housing Choice <br /> Vouchers has been steadily decreasing; for example, the largest landlord in the County no long accepts <br /> Section 8 Vouchers or VASH. <br /> Actions planned during the next year to address the needs to public housing <br /> The Orange County HOME Consortium will undertake the following to address the needs of Section 8 <br /> Housing Choice Voucher holders: <br /> • Work to increase the number of landlords willing to participate in the Housing Choice Voucher <br /> Program <br /> • Address lead-based paint hazards in Section 8 Housing Units <br /> • Encourage Section 8 Voucher holders to use the vouchers for mortgage assistance in purchasing <br /> a home <br /> Actions to encourage public housing residents to become more involved in management and <br /> participate in homeownership <br /> The Orange County Department of Housing, Human Rights, and Community Development has resident <br /> involvement on the public housing board. The Department is encouraging more participation by Section <br /> 8 Voucher holders to become homeowners. <br /> If the PHA is designated as troubled, describe the manner in which financial assistance will be <br /> provided or other assistance <br /> The Public Housing Authority is not designated as 'troubled.' <br /> Discussion <br /> Affordable housing remains one of the largest unmet needs in Orange County.There are no public housing <br /> units that are administered by the County. <br /> Annual Action Plan 37 <br /> OMB Control No:2506-0117(exp.07/31/2015) <br />
