He commended Audrey Spencer Horsley for this strategic <br /> 21 plan. <br /> 22 He said the plan would benefit from better focus, perhaps reducing it to 6-8 priorities. He said <br /> 23 affordable housing is a priority for all the other local municipalities, and they have provided <br /> 24 funding for their own strategic plans. He said all assets should be leveraged together for <br /> 25 maximized impact. He said this effort is working against the tide and a group effort is essential. <br /> 26 Robert Dowling said the plan should recognize projects that are already in place or <br /> 27 forthcoming. <br /> 28 Chair McKee said this plan is a beginning point and it is being reviewed and defined. He <br /> 29 said the Board committed to being on the same page as other governmental entities. <br /> 30 Dan Levine said he is active with the Orange County Affordable Housing Coalition. He <br /> 31 said he and others are here to thank the Board of County Commissioners for their commitment <br /> 32 to affordable housing in Orange County and the funding through a bond. He also commended <br /> 33 Audrey Spencer Horsley for this draft plan. He said they are here as a resource for Orange <br /> 34 County. <br /> 35 Doris Bailey thanked Audrey Spencer Horsley and the Board of County Commissioners <br /> 36 for realizing the need for affordable housing, especially for rental units. <br /> 37 Commissioner Price said there are a lot of community meetings upcoming, but none of <br /> 38 them are north of Highway 70. She asked if it would be possible to add a meeting in Cedar <br /> 39 Grove. <br /> 40 Audrey Spencer Horsley said yes. <br /> 41 Commissioner Pelissier referred to the issue of affordability, and said people are looking <br /> 42 at both housing and transportation combined being 45% of their household income. She said <br /> 43 as this plan moves forward, to consider transportation as a real part of the equation. <br /> 44 Commissioner Burroughs said she liked the set goals, and Audrey Spencer Horsley's <br /> 45 explanation of where the 1000 units are coming from. She appreciated the balance between <br /> 46 ownership and rental. <br /> 47 Commissioner Burroughs said mobile homes are a good source of affordable housing, <br /> 48 but there needs to be a clear emergency service plan for those in mobile home parks. <br /> 49 Audrey Spencer Horsley said locating a community center near such communities is <br /> 50 one option. <br />
