The Health Department received notification of the following additional revenues: <br /> • Food & Lodging — receipt of an additional $5,443 in food & lodging funds from the <br /> North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. These funds will be <br /> used to purchase additional departmental supplies for the Food & Lodging <br /> program. <br /> • Personal Health Nutrition Program — the Personal Health Nutrition Program was <br /> awarded $3,500 in a Diabetes Smart Mini Grant from Wilkes County. Wilkes <br /> County is the contact/lead agency for the region that includes Orange County in <br /> the Regional Diabetes Smart Program. The funds will be used for travel and <br /> training costs for the regional Diabetes Conference in May 2016 and for diabetes <br /> related supplies. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds. (See <br /> Attachment 1, column 3) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br /> applicable to this agenda item: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> Cooperative Extension <br /> 4. Cooperative Extension has received notification of $15,569 in additional funding from <br /> the North Carolina Agricultural Foundation. These additional funds will be used for the <br /> Farm-To-Fork event held at the Breeze Farm. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds.
