The chart in the housing <br /> market analysis of the AHSP illustrates the poverty statistics for <br /> families living in Orange County. At the time of the 2007-2011 <br /> American Community Survey, the percentage of <br /> some families with children living below the poverty level was as <br /> follows: <br /> • Families with related children under the age of 18 was <br /> 14.5%. <br /> • Female-headed families with related children under the <br /> age of 18 was 35.2%. <br /> • Families with a householder who is White is 6.1 <br /> • Families with a householder who is Black or African <br /> American is 20.6%. <br /> • Families with a householder who is Asian is 15.4%. <br /> • Families with a householder who is Hispanic or Latino is <br /> 29.4%. <br /> • In 2011, approximately 8.7% of all families in the Town of <br /> Chapel Hill lived below the poverty level; of the female <br /> householders, 28.3% were below the poverty level and 30.9% of <br /> those with children under 18 years were below poverty. <br /> • In the Town of Carrboro, approximately 10.1% of all families <br /> were below the poverty level; of the female head of households, <br /> 27.7% were below poverty level and 31.3% lived with related <br /> children under 18 years. <br /> • irn me :uwn or Hillsborough, approximately 23.7% of <br /> families lived below the poverty level in 2011; of the female <br /> householders, 70.3% lived below the poverty level, with <br /> 77.0% of those living with children under 18 years living <br /> below poverty. <br /> • There are 9.9% (5,016) of all individuals on limited incomes <br /> from social security, supplemental social security and <br /> public assistance. <br /> Rental and Owner Occupied Housing Stock and Housing Costs <br /> • According to the 2007-2011 American Community Survey, there <br /> were 50,837 households in Orange County; compared to the 2000 <br /> Draft Affordable Housing Strategic Plan <br />
