This
proximity will provide us with even more opportunities than usual to offer our audience
an array of contextual resources, including our dramaturg discussions, scholarly talks,
and conversations with the artists about the production, and we will continue our Book
Talk, reading and discussing literature related to the production.
The project will also further our exploration of the potential of a small theater space and
of the collaboration that is so central to our work, as two design staffs and two casts work
not only as individual teams but also in concert with one another, creating an experience
even larger than the two remarkable plays that comprise it.
Long Range planning
Long range planning has occupied much of our attention in the past two years. We have
contracted with Priscilla Bratcher of Armstrong McGuire and with the Executive Service
Corps to help us marshal our resources and focus our efforts to grow our audiences. We
are among ten Triangle arts organizations selected by the State Arts Council and the
Triangle Community Foundation to participate in a year-long multi-disciplinary effort to
address long-term planning within organizations and across our community. And as we
look for new space,we have drawn up a budget projections to help determine what we
can afford and what assumptions about growth we are prepared to make.
Challenges
Our top three challenges in the coming year will be(1)to find affordable theater space
amenable to our ambitions to create a sustainable organization; (2)to strengthen our
profile in the community to order to raise awareness and increase our institutional
support, and(3)to expand our board and our fundraising capabilities.
Thank you for your consideration.
