Woven Fringes and Cording and Tassels for pillows, upholstered items, etc <br /> • 3.Braiding and loom controlled twists for fancier-dressier scarves/shawls <br /> • March 3: Nationally known textile artist Robyn Spady program speaker <br /> • March 24 Victoria Rovine,UNC Art Department Textile Anthropologist <br /> • April 28: Lynn Pownel,Mounting and Hanging Woven Items in Your Home; <br /> • May 29: End of Year Celebration Guild Outreach. Recognition of outreach events, <br /> contributing persons,new members/weavers as a result of outreach events <br /> • Expand and sustain the following outreach programs: <br /> • Continue providing materials,looms and volunteers for a number of local children's weaving <br /> and fiber camps <br /> • Explore ways to develop a TW sponsored children's textile arts program <br /> • Provide more weaving support,materials and needed equipment for Peace Haven,an <br /> organization working with adults who have special needs.http://www.peacehavenfarm.org <br /> • Host regular TFAC Open Houses for the community <br /> • Host free Community TFAC Outreach Drop-In and Weave events <br /> • Provide and donate even more Linus Blankets for children with cancer,preemie hats to the <br /> local hospitals,and scarves to the local shelters <br /> The guild has an extensive collection of weaving equipment including several weaving looms and <br /> weaving tools along with learning,educational and audiovisual materials. This collection is housed and <br /> used at TFAC for classes,study groups,workshops and community outreach demonstrations.To offset a <br /> portion of the cost,TW rents equipment to members who do not have looms or cannot afford to purchase <br /> looms. <br /> There are currently over 135 members of TW.However,TW's goal is not to only serve guild members. <br /> Its vision is to pass on and share a wide range of fiber arts and ensure the vitality of textile arts within the <br /> community at large.Each year more and more people interested in fiber arts approach the guild.With the <br /> aid of grant money from The Orange County Arts Council,the guild will be able to offer additional <br /> classes,workshops,demonstrations,learning opportunities and community outreach for people of all <br /> ages,gender,race and socioeconomic backgrounds at the newly formed Triangle Fiber Arts Center in <br /> Orange County. <br /> 4 <br />
