The grant will ensure the center will become a self-sufficient, <br /> vibrant place with a strong connection to the community and continued vision of teaching and sharing <br /> textiles and fiber arts with its members and the public of all ages,gender,race and socioeconomic <br /> backgrounds. <br /> With support of the grant,TW plans to retain space in the Shared Visions Retreat Center <br /> (www.sharedvisions.ore)in order to: <br /> • Provide guild members and the general public with a handicapped accessible,comfortable,working <br /> space to gather together,to study and to share fiber arts knowledge and skills, <br /> • Expand its educational and outreach programs to a larger audience giving non-weavers the <br /> opportunity to try their hand at weaving,spinning and textile arts.Groups reached include public <br /> schools,senior groups and other organizations in the area, <br /> • House,preserve and maintain a wide selection of current and historical fiber arts publications and <br /> learning materials that TW has acquired, <br /> • Sponsor more classes and workshops with local and nationally known textile instructors, <br /> • Host free presentations and demonstrations focusing on the textile and fiber arts.The local <br /> community will be invited to demonstrations and presentations highlighting works rooted in our local <br /> tradition but also looking forward to the future to inspiring a new generation of emerging textile <br /> artists, <br /> • Assist members in forming and sustaining more self-led interest and study groups thus enriching <br /> members' knowledge,skills and creativity, <br /> • Provide additional weaving looms and repair current equipment so that members can rent or borrow <br /> for classes and personal use. <br /> It is TW's goal to facilitate,oversee and maintain the following projects: <br /> • Upgrade and sustain a website www.triangleweavers.org and Facebook page <br /> • Host the following classes at TFAC: <br /> • Beginning and Advanced Weaving Classes and Workshops <br /> • Rigid Heddle Weaving <br /> • Split Ply Braiding <br /> • Basket Weaving <br /> • Beginning and Advanced Color Classes for textile artists <br /> • Felting,spinning,dyeing,intermediate classes focusing on specific weave-structures <br /> • Host the following workshop at TFAC with a nationally recognized instructor: <br /> o Block Structures with Robyn Spady in March 2016 <br /> • Support,coordinate and oversee the following study groups at TFAC: <br /> • Contemporary Textile discussion group <br /> • Three Handwoven Journals discussion groups <br /> • Warpsters,a weaving structure group <br /> • Tapestry study group <br /> • Garment study group <br /> • Repurposing and using heirloom linens interest study group <br /> • Coordinate additional events to be held at TFAC including but not limited to: <br /> o Drop-in and Learning Sessions Tuesdays and Saturdays 1-4 PM with informal gatherings <br /> on topics such as Using Fiberworks(a computer design program for textile artists), <br /> Weaving techniques with cards,Woven Transparencies,Warping Back to Front, <br /> Finishing Techniques <br /> • Coordinate shows and demonstrations including but not limited to: <br /> 3 <br />
