DocuSign Envelope ID:299BB727-1089-451E-ADD8-553714352CF4 <br /> Narrative <br /> Organizational Profile <br /> Triangle Weavers (TW)is a non-profit 5016,all volunteer member-supported organization devoted to <br /> supporting the fiber arts through programs,textile exhibitions and outreach in Orange County and central <br /> North Carolina.Over its 43 year history TW has been unwavering in its efforts to share the area's rich <br /> textile and fiber arts heritage with its members and the community.Membership is open to anyone <br /> interested in textile arts,weaving,color,dyeing,spinning,basketry,knitting,felting and surface design. <br /> In March of 2015 TW made a commitment to strengthen its presence in the community by leasing a space <br /> and establishing the Triangle Fiber Arts Center(TFAC)at the Shared Visions Retreat Center in Orange <br /> County(www.sharedvisions.org).The primary purpose of the fiber arts center is to provide a classroom <br /> space for more educational and in-depth workshops for guild members and the public,a well-equipped <br /> teaching space for additional weaving and textile arts classes,and a venue for expanded community <br /> outreach programs. <br /> The Guild is respectfully requesting$1500 to be used to help cover some of the costs associated with <br /> renting and equipping the space in order to host more weaving and textile arts classes and expand its <br /> community outreach to adults and children of all races,gender and socioeconomic groups in the area. <br /> Current Programs and Services <br /> • Assists and provides materials,looms and volunteers for summer kids' weaving and fiber camps at <br /> Camp New Hope in Hillsborough <br /> • Provides weaving materials and looms for Peace Haven,an organization working with adults who <br /> have special needs. http://www.peacehavenfarm.org <br /> • Provides handwoven or knitted Linus Blankets for children with cancer <br /> • Donates preemie hats and blankets to the UNC Hospital Neo-Natal Unit and handwoven mittens <br /> and scarves to local shelters and families in need <br /> • Recently conducted the following textile outreach shows and demonstrations to the public: <br /> • NC Folk life Festival and NC Roots Festival,Come&Out and Play Weaving Demonstration <br /> and Show <br /> • Weaving 101 Carrboro Arts Center <br /> • ELF Fair,Second Annual Apex Founders Day and Carolina Fiberfest <br /> • North Carolina Craft Gallery Sale and Exhibit,Duke Hospital Fair <br /> • Demonstrations and teaching session at local scout troops,schools,and Charles House,a day <br /> care center for the elderly <br /> • Sponsored and coordinated the following classes and learning opportunities: <br /> • Beginning weaving classes,rigid heddle weaving,split ply braiding,dyeing of warps and <br /> skeins for weaving <br /> • Annual workshops with national leader,Daryl Lancaser on Garment Construction and <br /> Finishing Techniques for Handweavers <br /> • Member led textile art study groups including <br /> • Beginning and advanced color study <br /> • Handwoven journal discussion group <br /> • Weaving structures study group <br /> • Tapestry <br /> • Contemporary Textile discussion group <br /> • Hosts free monthly educational programs for the public <br /> • Provides TW's web page www.triangleweavers.org,list serve and Facebook page for community <br /> use <br /> 2 <br />
