Curriculum for Beginning Weaving on a Floor Loom Introduce participants to weaving on a floor loom,including the opportunity to warp the loom and complete a small project Materials: floor loom,yarn,warping board,shuttles,reed hooks,weaving books and journals Basic weaving terms Types of floor looms Reading a draft Planning a project,including selecting yarns and calculating yarn needs,and record keeping Wrapping a warp and dressing the loom Plain weave and twill structures Weaving on the loom to produce a small project,including finishing techniques Outcome: Participants should leave with an introductory knowledge of designing a project as well as warping and weaving on a floor loom. Curriculum for Introduction to Inkle Weaving Goals: Introduce participants to inkle weaving,including the opportunity to warp and use an inkle loom Materials: inkle loom,yarn for warp and heddles,yarn for weft,weaving books and journals Types of inkle looms Design for the inkle loom,including appropriate yarns,possible projects and design resources Warping inkle loom,including making heddles Weaving on the loom Product or Outcome: Participants should leave with a warp on their loom and introductory knowledge of inkle weaving Curriculum for Introduction to Tapestry Weaving Goals: introduce participants to tapestry weaving,including the opportunity to warp and use a tapestry loom Materials: Tapestry or frame loom,yarn,weaving books and journals Types of tapestry looms Design for tapestry,including appropriate yarns and design sources Warping a tapestry or frame loom Weaving on the loom,including joins,color shading,and finishing techniques Outcome: Participants should leave with a warp on their loom and introductory knowledge of tapestry weaving 8
