W <br /> (define) Using a wide variety of art materials and processes,we are going to be creating mixed-media (define) books N <br /> that develop a theatre (define) of each artist's choosing. I'm going to show you examples of my own altered books and <br /> the altered books of other. I'll guide you through selecting your theme and demonstrate art processes that you may use <br /> in your altered book. <br /> J <br /> M <br /> 0 <br /> 91 <br /> Z) Demonstrate techniques and steps for creating an altered book,go over material locations and use, demonstrate <br /> techniques for construction and embellishment. <br /> 3) Key problem solving questions: How will you use visual images,text and a variety of art techniques to develop the <br /> theme of your book?How will viewers/"readers" of your altered book interpret the pages you have created?Will your <br /> theme be evident to them or will it be mysterious?Will the pages work together to support your theme? <br /> 4) Big idea question to keep in mind as you work: How might a book be a document, a capsule, a vessel, or an artwork? <br /> 5) Remember: Everything you include in your altered book(colors,patterns,symbols,text) can be used to support your <br /> theme so make thoughtful decisions about the elements you include.Try to stay away from clich6d images like hearts <br /> and smiley faces or logos for sports teams.Think about ways to communicate your theme in a unique,artful way. <br /> Sharing/Closing!Activity:While your Altered Book is most likely still a work in progress, I'd like to take a few minutes to <br /> share with each other the work we've created,if you're willing.
