Baker (All other staff members will be identified <br /> 20 appropriately below) <br /> 21 HILLSBOROUGH COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Mayor Tom Stevens and Commissioners <br /> 22 Kathleen Ferguson, Mark Bell, Brian Lowen, Evelyn Lloyd, and Jenn Weaver <br /> 23 HILLSBOROUGH COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> 24 HILLSBOROUGH STAFF PRESENT: Margaret Hauth, Planning Director <br /> 25 HILLSBOROUGH TOWN STAFF ABSENT: Town Manager, Eric Peterson <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Chair McKee called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Welcome and Opening Remarks <br /> 30 Mayor Stevens welcomed all to tonight's joint meeting. <br /> 31 Mayor Stevens said it was 10 years ago that the first joint meeting was planned, and <br /> 32 tonight's agenda is full, but is an opportunity to check in. Mayor Stevens asked staff to give <br /> 33 summaries of their items to allow for more conversation between Commissioners. <br /> 34 Mayor Stevens noted and reviewed the following hand outs at their places: <br /> 35 <br /> 36 1. Strategy map: one page document, from which all that is done in Hillsborough flows. It is <br /> 37 the overview of the Town. <br /> 38 Mayor Stevens said the objectives line is the most important, and he summarized the <br /> 39 items on the document. He said the theme for Hillsborough is growth. He noted Hillsborough <br /> 40 is the slowest growing town in the triangle, but will have a steep growth curve in the next 10 <br /> 41 years before plateauing. <br /> 42 2. 2030 plan: very much aligned with the strategy map. There are five goals: keeping <br /> 43 Hillsborough's sense of place; economic and cultural diversity; community sustainability; <br /> 44 connectivity; and forward moving action plan. <br /> 45 <br /> 46 Chair McKee echoed Mayor Stevens comments. Chair McKee said growth does not need <br /> 47 to occur in silos. <br /> 48 <br /> 49 1. Economic Development <br /> 50 a) County/Town Updates (Strategies; Collaboration; Concerns; Questions) <br />
