34
1 me know how I may further express my support. Those against the ordinance clearly are more
2 concerned with their rights to shoot cans than the rights of others to enjoy peace and quiet.
3
4 Thank you-
5
6 Katherine Walker
7
8
9 Hello,
10 We are very much for the amendment to regulate the discharge of firearms. Can I attend this
11 meeting? I am having a hard time finding out where this meeting is located. I saw something
12 that noted the time as 7pm, 02.16.2016.
13
14 We live in a residential neighborhood consisting of 1 acre lots. We have lived here for more
15 than 10 years and have lived Orange County for almost 20 years. About a year ago we had
16 new neighbors move in. These new neighbors decided to start rifle firing on their property. With
17 the acre lots we are less than 500 feet away from them. In neighborhoods like these it is not
18 safe for them to be allowed to do this.
19
20 We have been outside playing in our yard and have had to go back inside and shut all windows
21 and doors due to the noise. We also have resorted to calling the sheriff on occasion as well.
22 (before the firing started we had never needed to call the sheriff's department) We have
23 neighbors that have had to move cook outs or birthday parties inside due to the intrusive noise.
24
25 My husband is a Chapel Hill Police officer and has been for 17 years, it has never occurred to
26 him in our more than 10 years of living here to practice firing in our yard. He always goes to a
27 range.
28
29 Some of our other neighbors have had it worse than us, on Tanya road there are people that
30 fire day and night and also fire into tannerite.
31
32 It would be very appropriate and long needed for this amendment to pass. At least some
33 restriction for residential areas. Currently the attitude is "we're out in the county" or"there's no
34 ordinance preventing me from doing it". I wish that all people would address the situation with
35 common sense but it will take a change in governance to get change for this issue.
36
37 Thank you,
38 Tracy Shinn
39 105 Drake Drive
40 Mebane, NC 27302
41
42
43 Dear Commissioners:
44
45 You may be following the social medial debate on the proposed gun ordinance. I find
46 the ordinance confusing and it is unclear if/how the ordinance actually addresses the issue of
47 nuisance from constant target shooting.
48
49 In my opinion, it would help if you slow this down and give people a chance to have a
50 meaningful conversation about noise and other nuisances. Most of us accept occasional target
