An efficient and balanced transportation system that uses multiple motorized and non-motorized <br /> modes of transportation and for which the planning, design, and implementation will be guided <br /> by the following overarching qualities: <br /> A. Protects air quality, water quality and quantity, soil quality, and biological resources <br /> B. Promotes public health and safety <br /> C. Encourages sustainable economic development <br /> D. Provides equal access to all users <br /> E. Is highly modally and inter-modally integrated and connected <br /> F. Fosters sustainable and efficient use of all kinds of resources, including financial and natural <br /> resources <br /> G. Enhances the natural and cultural heritage <br /> H. Uses creative and well-designed infrastructure <br /> I. Is attractive, user-friendly, and easy to understand because of factors such as signage, <br /> brochures, and web pages <br /> J. Respects privacy and citizen rights. <br /> (Note to reader: The overarching qualities are based on OUTBoard suggestions.) <br /> Transportation Goal 1: <br /> An efficient and integrated multi-modal transportation system that protects the natural <br /> environment and community character. <br /> Transportation Goal 2: <br /> A multi-modal transportation system that is affordable, available, and accessible to all users and <br /> that promotes public health and safety. <br /> Transportation Goal 3: <br /> Integrated land use planning and transportation planning that serves existing development, <br /> supports future development, and is consistent with the county's land use plans which include <br /> provisions for preserving the natural environment and community character. <br /> Transportation Goal 4: <br /> A countywide and regionally-integrated multi-modal transportation planning process that is <br /> comprehensive, creative and effective. <br /> 9.6 OBJECTIVES <br /> The intent of this plan is that this list of objectives will help guide regular and ongoing decision- <br /> making by the County related to transportation initiatives. Each objective has a recommended <br /> timeline for completion.
