<br />The Hoard of Commissi ones for the County of Orange, State of North
<br />Carolina, mat on Monday, March 1, 1954, at 10 o'clock A. M., Sn the
<br />Commissioasrs' Room at the Courthouse in Hillsboro, North Carolina, the
<br />uauel pl¢ce of meeting.
<br />Members present: Chairman R. 0. Forrest, and Commisaione rs Sim L.
<br />Efland and R. J. M. Hobbs.
<br />Members absent: Nona.
<br />A road petition was presented by Lillie B. Williams of Chapel Hill
<br />Tovrnsh in calling for a ro ed running from Piney Mountain School Road off
<br />Airport Roed to the home oP Lillie gill iama and others. Length of road
<br />0.6 miles. There was no action taken by the'Bo¢rd relative to this petition.
<br />Upon mo tlon of Commissioner Hobbs, seconded by Commissioner Efland
<br />and passed by a unanimous vote, it was oidared that a bronze plaque bs
<br />placed in the hall of the pre cant Courthouse in recognition of the farm
<br />people and agricultural workers of Orange County for winning the 1953 State
<br />Axard "County of the Year in Rural Progress".
<br />tdr. G. A, Brown, Principal of R111sboro School, end members of the
<br />local school board, appeared end reported on the urgent need of more class
<br />rooms for elementary pupils.
<br />Upon motion of Commis stoner Hobbs, seconded by Conmiis stoner Etland,
<br />the Aid to Blind Grant of Julie Fisher was increased from $24.00 per month
<br />to 528.00 per month.
<br />Ltr. E. M. Lynch, Clerk Superior Court, presented his nnnuel report
<br />of tho assets end liabilities of his office for the year ending Dec. 31, 1953
