She gave the BOCC an update on the BOH strategic plan. She noted that <br /> 12 every four years, the BOH commissions a community health assessment to identify community <br /> 13 health issues. She said the current priorities from the 2011 community health assessment are <br /> 14 childhood and family obesity prevention, substance abuse and mental health, and access to <br /> 15 care. <br /> 16 Liska Lackey said a new community health assessment was completed in fall 2015, and <br /> 17 a new strategic plan will be completed in spring 2016. She reviewed the following highlights <br /> 18 from 2015: <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Substance Abuse and Mental Health <br /> 21 • As a result of the BOH Directive, 75% of law enforcement agencies in Orange County <br /> 22 are now equipped with naloxone (4 lives saved in the first 6 months of the project) <br /> 23 • Winner of the NCACC Innovation in Government Award for the naloxone program <br /> 24 • Health Department is one of three major partners in a collaborative approach to reduce <br /> 25 binge drinking in and around Chapel Hill <br /> 26 • Evaluations show continued improvement in percent of OC residents who know about <br /> 27 the Smoke Free Public Places Rule <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Childhood and Family Obesity Prevention <br /> 30 • Partnering with UNC Health Promotion and Disease Prevention to pilot online GO NAP <br /> 31 SACC tool in OC <br /> 32 • Founding partner of No Kid Hungry NC <br /> 33 • Participating with UNC's Food for All campus theme <br /> 34 <br /> 35 Access to Care <br /> 36 • Celebrated 1st anniversary of the Family Success Alliance <br /> 37 o 4 Navigators hired <br /> 38 o 3 Kindergarten readiness programs offered <br /> 39 o Collective Impact summit recognized statewide <br /> 40 • Innovation Grants Program on-going <br /> 41 <br /> 42 Other <br /> 43 • Active in the every 4-year community health assessment process including attending <br /> 44 focus groups and community listening sessions <br /> 45 <br /> 46 Chair McKee said there has been consideration of a sharp container, or a syringe <br /> 47 exchange program, and asked if there was an update on this topic. <br /> 48 Colleen Bridger, Orange County Health Department Director, said yes the BOH <br /> 49 approved this initiative which will go into effect no later than April 1, 2016.
