1 <br /> 1 Attachment 1 <br /> 2 <br /> 3 DRAFT MINUTES <br /> 4 BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 5 REGULAR MEETING <br /> 6 February 2, 2016 <br /> 7 7:00 p.m. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, February 2, <br /> 10 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Whitted Building, in Hillsborough, N.C. <br /> 11 <br /> 12 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair McKee and Commissioners Mia Burroughs, <br /> 13 Mark Dorosin, Barry Jacobs, Bernadette Pelissier, Renee Price and Penny Rich <br /> 14 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> 15 COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> 16 COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Deputy County Manager <br /> 17 Travis Myren and Clerk to the Board Donna Baker (All other staff members will be identified <br /> 18 appropriately below) <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Chair McKee called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> 23 Chair McKee noted the following item at the Commissioners' places: <br /> 24 - Monthly memorandum from the Planning Department <br /> 25 <br /> 26 PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Chair McKee dispensed with the reading of the Public Charge. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 2. Public Comments <br /> 31 <br /> 32 a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> 33 Sheryl Zimmerman spoke about an ongoing property tax issue that she and her <br /> 34 husband, Philip Sloan, are facing. She provided a hand out of her comments as well as <br /> 35 several documents pertaining to her comments. All of referenced documents are in the <br /> 36 meeting's permanent record at the office of the Clerk to the Board of County <br /> 37 Commissioners (BOCC). She reviewed these documents and thanked the Board for its <br /> 38 consideration. <br /> 39 Chair McKee thanked Sheryl Zimmerman and said the case would be discussed <br /> 40 in a closed session at a later date. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 b. Matters on the Printed Agenda <br /> 43 (These matters will be considered when the Board addresses that item on the agenda <br /> 44 below.) <br /> 45 <br /> 46 3. Petitions by Board Members <br /> 47 Commissioner Rich had no petitions. <br /> 48 Commissioner Pelissier had no petitions. <br /> 49 Commissioner Dorosin said he attended a fantastic advocacy training this past <br /> 50 weekend, and reviewed some of the resolutions that were presented that may be for <br />
