11 <br /> Attachment 9 by eliminating the provisions dealing with private recreational shooting facility <br /> regulations or eliminating both private and the recreational provisions. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin asked if eliminating a portion will remove the ability to regulate <br /> one who wants to set up a shooting range. <br /> Michael Harvey said he recommends keeping the commercial portion intact and to <br /> eliminate the private recreational portion, having the County Attorney bring that back in a <br /> future amendment packet to go into the general code of ordinances. <br /> John Roberts said he would recommend removing section 5.7.1 a2a found on page 43. <br /> Michael Harvey said he has no problem removing this. <br /> Chair McKee asked if the Board chooses to do this is, it then able to discuss putting it <br /> into general ordinances and also to incorporate the language from Lenoir County. <br /> John Roberts said he can work on this for the February meeting. <br /> Commissioner Burroughs asked if the very last line of the shooting activities could be <br /> reviewed regarding allowing two days of incidental shooting. She said the wording may not <br /> reflect the actual desire of that which the County seeks. <br /> A motion made by Commissioner Rich, seconded by Commissioner Dorosin to adopt the <br /> Statement of Consistency as contained in Attachment 8 and to adopt the revised UDO <br /> amendment package as contained within Attachment 9 consistent with the recommendation of <br /> the County Attorney's office. The revised UDO amendment eliminates the proposed language <br /> currently contained within Section 5.7.1 (A) (2) (a) establishing land use regulations governing <br /> the discharge of firearms on private property. The Attorney's office will be incorporating <br /> regulations governing the discharge of firearms on private property within a future amendment <br /> to the General County Code of Ordinances to be enforced by the Sheriff's Office to be <br /> presented at the February 2, 2016 regular meeting for consideration. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 6.
