ig / 11l 1111111111111110 9 <br /> 1111111110 00m 1ll Visitors Bureau <br /> February 2, 2016 <br /> To: Board of Orange County Commissioners <br /> c/o Orange County Clerk's Office <br /> From: Laurie Paolicelli, Director, Orange County Community Relations and Visitors Bureau <br /> Re: Nominating Committee Recommendation for Hotel Seat on Visitors bureau Board <br /> At its January, 2016 board meeting, the Visitors Bureau Board members nominated, Andrew <br /> Strickland, Residence Inn, to serve in the seat of Hotelier on the advisory board. <br /> Please accept this nomination now. <br /> Mr. Strickland has applied for this board on two occasions and brings with him more than <br /> fifteen years' experience managing hotels, including Triangle hotels and a stint in Pinehurst. <br /> He now serves at the Residence Inn on Erwin Road in Chapel Hill and has long been a partner <br /> to sales staff at the Bureau, helping to secure group business, produce special events, and <br /> work with medical institutions on hosting long term visitors who have family in local hospitals. <br /> He is a regular sponsor of events, maintains an impressive demand an occupancy rate and <br /> contributes to several area economic groups, including the Chamber of Commerce and the <br /> Triangle Area Hotel Motel Association board. In 2015, he was nominated as the Chamber's <br /> 2015 Young Professional of the Year. <br /> Please accept this recommendation and nomination.
