Environmental Health Technician 1 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, <br />bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, uses <br />tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and must distinguish between shades of <br />color. <br />WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed outdoors with some in-office work. <br />The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or <br />infectious diseases, pests and insects, and occasional cold or inclement weather. The work <br />requires the use of protective devices such as masks or gloves. <br />SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: None. <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: <br />o Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a two <br />year associate degree, with courses in hydrology, basic engineering, water chemistry <br />and microbiology, computer training, GPS/GIS training, repairs of well water systems, <br />indoor air quality, and environmental disaster and response <br />o Must pass qualification exam and a practical evaluation to become an Authorized Agent <br />of the State of North Carolina Department of Environmental and Natural Resources <br />o Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver' s license issued by the State of <br />North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. <br />
