Updated 091907 <br />~~ <br />JOB TITLE: Permit Systems Analyst <br />DEPARTMENT: Planning and Inspections, Orange County <br />JOB SUMMARY: The position is responsible for the design, development, implementation, training and <br />maintenance of specialized software programs supporting inspections, permitting and enforcement functions. <br />MAJOR DUTIES: <br />• Provides in-house development and support of customized function-specific software to provide for <br />data entry and retention of information supporting building inspections and other code enforcement <br />issues. <br />• Develops and supports user interface within Permits Plus system for data entry and data retrieval by <br />users within Planning and Inspections, as well as other county departments and municipal agencies. <br />• Designs and implements data-sharing strategies to comply with NC Administration and Enforcement <br />code. <br />• Designs, develops, deploys and supports customized software to analyze residential and commercial <br />developmental trends in affected departments and jurisdictions. <br />• Creates and maintains SQL database for permit and inspections data. <br />• Generates reports from permit data for Planning Director, Board of County Commissioners, Economic <br />Development Department, Census and others. <br />• Maintains, develops and enhance Inspect Plus and Permits Plus interface to SQL data. <br />• Serves as Database Administrator for permitting system reporting and entry. <br />• Develops, maintains, and updates department software; installs software and trains users; coordinates <br />efforts with other Department Heads and Supervisors and works with vendor consultants during <br />implementation process. <br />• Provides database assistance to Environmental Health Division, Building Inspections Division, Current <br />Planning Division, Fire Marshal and Tax Assessor's Office in the development of forms, reports, <br />revenue collections and general data management. <br />• Writes programs to customize and expand the functionality of the Permits Plus System and tailors the <br />software system to the needs of the individual division. <br />• Resolves glitches, bugs or any general problems with the software for users. <br />• Provides financial and statistical data for fee schedule analysis, staffing and planning needs and work <br />analysis; and Budget and Finance Offices. <br />• Occasionally inspects building and electrical installations for compliance with state and local building <br />codes and regulations. <br />• Performs other related duties as assigned. <br />
