Update 091907 <br />~-~ <br />PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, provide <br />services, explain policies, resolve problems, and motivate personnel. <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting, bending, crouching, or <br />stooping. The employee frequently lifts light objects, occasionally lifts heavy objects, climbs <br />ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. <br />WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed primarily outdoors. The employee is <br />exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals, foul <br />odors, and inclement weather. The work may require the use of protective devices such as <br />masks, goggles or gloves, and safety shoes are required. <br />SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: This position has direct <br />supervision over one (1) Solid Waste Materials Transfer Operator, six (6) Landfill Equipment <br />Operators, two (2) Weighmasters, and three (3) Landfill Inspector Operators. <br />MINIMITM QUALIFICATIONS: <br />• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of high <br />school and a minimum of 4 years of progressive related construction or landfill <br />experience, with at least two years of supervisory responsibilities. <br />• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions and <br />must be able to answer questions and resolve problems. <br />• Within one year, must possess Manager of Landfill Operations Certification. <br />• Within two (2) years must possess Transfer Station Certification. <br />• Possession of or ability to readily obtain within 6 months of hire, a Class B commercial <br />driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle operated. <br />• Obtain Freon handling certification within 3 months of hire. <br />
