Update 091907 ~-~ PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, provide services, explain policies, resolve problems, and motivate personnel. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light objects, occasionally lifts heavy objects, climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed primarily outdoors. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals, foul odors, and inclement weather. The work may require the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles or gloves, and safety shoes are required. SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: This position has direct supervision over one (1) Solid Waste Materials Transfer Operator, six (6) Landfill Equipment Operators, two (2) Weighmasters, and three (3) Landfill Inspector Operators. MINIMITM QUALIFICATIONS: • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of high school and a minimum of 4 years of progressive related construction or landfill experience, with at least two years of supervisory responsibilities. • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions and must be able to answer questions and resolve problems. • Within one year, must possess Manager of Landfill Operations Certification. • Within two (2) years must possess Transfer Station Certification. • Possession of or ability to readily obtain within 6 months of hire, a Class B commercial driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle operated. • Obtain Freon handling certification within 3 months of hire.
