~a <br />Staff Attorney <br />Page 3 <br />PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts include co-workers, other county employees, department <br />heads, elected officials, court officials, regulatory agency officials, other attorneys, media <br />representatives, and the general public. <br />PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to gather, give or exchange information, <br />provide services, resolve problems, interrogate persons, negotiate solutions and justify, defend, or <br />settle matters. <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, or <br />stooping. <br />WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed in an office and occasionally outdoors. <br />The employee may infrequently be exposed to inclement weather. <br />SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: This position may provide some <br />supervision to staff support personnel. <br />MINIMITM QUALIFICATIONS: <br />o Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of law <br />school from a recognized school of law and some professional legal experience, <br />preferably in a local government, regulatory or real estate setting. <br />o Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the objectives and functions of the <br />department and the work of other departments advising and handling technical and legal <br />issues, usually associated with one to two years experience or service. <br />o Licensed to practice law in the State of North Carolina. <br />
