Ross Jr., Secretary Lewis R. Ledford, Director
July 27, 2007
Eddie Kirk, Planer
Orange County Planning Department
P.O. Box 8181
Hillsborough, NC 27278
Dear Mr. Kirk:
The NC Division of Parks and Recreation has been working with the Eno River Association on
the review of the Pleasant Green Woods — Phase 3 development plan. The area identified to be
dedicated to the Eno River Association provides water quality protection to the stream flowing
into the state park and the Eno River.
The State of North Carolina is willing to accept the property with the bold outline for Eno River
State Park. This property is within the acquisition plan for Eno River State Park for the
protection of the natural resources on the property and water quality in the tributary to the Eno
River. I have copied the State Property Office on this letter so they are aware this property will
be coming to the state.
It is my understanding that there will be walking trails within the subdivision property. Due to
the nature of the terrain near the tributary stream and the number of easements within the
property designated for the park, it does not appear that construction of a trail from the
subdivision into the park property would be wise or feasible.
Thank you again for your support of Eno River State Park. We look forward to working with
Orange County for many years to come.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions
8694.
Sincerely,
Susan Regier, Headd
Land Protection Program
cc: Kelly Mitchell, State Property Office
Dave Cook, Eno River State Park
Robin Jacobs, Eno River Association
I can be reached at 919 -715-
One
1615 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, North Carolina 27699 -1615 NorthCarolina
Phone: 919 - 733 -4181 - FAX: 919- 715 -3085 - Internet: www.nesparks.net cu,R //
An Equal Opportunity 0 Affirmative Action Employer - 50 % Recycled - 10 % Post Consumer Paper b [`
17
