Charlotte Terwilliger, <br /> Long-Term Care Ombudsperson, Triangle J Council of Governments, also provides staff <br /> support to the committee. <br /> How many times per month does this board/commission meet, including any special meetings and sub- <br /> committee meetings? <br /> Bi-monthly committee business meetings and quarterly subcommittee visits to long term care <br /> facilities. Issue specific subcommittees meet on an ad hoc basis. <br /> Brief Statement of Board/Commission's Assigned Charge and Responsibilities. <br /> This group's charges and responsibilities include to: <br /> • Stay informed about living conditions for residents of long term care (LTC) assisted <br /> living facilities and homes. <br /> • Make official unannounced quarterly visits to each assisted living facility in county, and <br /> unannounced annual visits to assisted living family care homes in the county (there are 6 <br /> facilities and 6 family care homes that provide assisted living care in the county). <br /> • Prepare and submit official reports on visits to assisted living facilities and family homes <br /> as required by the NC Division of Aging &Adult Services. These reports summarize <br /> findings of visits to facilities and homes and point to concerns about care. <br /> • Advise and assist the County Department of Aging and the Triangle J Ombudsperson <br /> about programs they devise to help improve care for residents in assisted living facilities <br /> and family homes in the county. <br /> • Foster increased community volunteerism in Orange County's LTC facilities. <br /> • Promote community awareness of the needs of residents in LTC, and inform the public <br /> about emerging developments in long term care and the operation of long term care <br /> facilities and homes in Orange County. <br />
