Clerk to the <br /> Board, 919-245-2130 <br /> PURPOSE: To encourage a better line of communication between the Board and its <br /> representatives to various external advisory boards. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Board suggested in 2014 to invite County-appointed advisory board <br /> representatives to external boards to a work session in order to give these appointees an <br /> opportunity to provide updates/concerns on issues they think should be brought to the Board's <br /> attention related to their advisory board service. It is in everyone's best interest to improve <br /> communication with these Orange County representatives, and to better coordinate their work <br /> for the betterment of the County. These appointees have been solicited to submit updates, <br /> concerns, and suggestions if they wish. The appointees have also been invited to address the <br /> Board at the meeting, all in order to provide a better line of communication between the Board <br /> and its appointees to external advisory boards. <br /> The external appointees planning to attend the meeting are: <br /> - Carrboro Northern Transition Area Advisory Committee —Anahid Vrana <br /> - Chapel Hill Planning Commission — Deborah Harris <br /> - Chapel Hill Parks, Greenways and Recreation Commission — Mary Musacchia <br /> - Mebane Planning Board —Thomas Fenske <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: NONE <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is applicable to <br /> this agenda item: <br /> • GOAL: ENABLE FULL CIVIC PARTICIPATION <br /> Ensure that Orange County residents are able to engage government through voting and <br /> volunteering by eliminating disparities in participation and barriers to participation. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive any presentations, <br /> discuss and provide direction as needed. <br />
