Resolution of Project Agreement Tom Altieri, Comprehensive Planning <br /> Supervisor, 245-2579 <br /> Peter Murphy, Transportation <br /> Administrator, 919-245-2002 <br /> Craig Benedict, Planning Director 919- <br /> 245-2004 <br /> PURPOSE: To approve a resolution of project agreement between Orange County and the <br /> North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and authorize the County Manager <br /> to sign the agreement. <br /> BACKGROUND: In October 2014, the BOCC approved the Central and Rural Orange <br /> County Five-Year Bus Service Expansion Program for Orange Public Transportation <br /> (OPT). http://www.oranpecountync.pov/document center/BOCCApenda Min utes/October <br /> 21 2014.pdf <br /> This Program included "US 70 Midday Service", among several other new services to be <br /> implemented by OPT as part of the broader Orange County Bus and Rail Investment Plan <br /> (OCBRIP). In July 2015, Orange County applied for grant funding through the North <br /> Carolina Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Program and Burlington-Graham <br /> Metropolitan Planning Organization (BG MPO) to help implement the service and <br /> subsequently, Orange County has been awarded funding. <br /> This grant will provide operating assistance for the first three years of the US 70 Midday <br /> Service, hereafter referred to as the Orange-Alamance Connector, and includes capital <br /> funding for one 28 foot, 22-passenger diesel-powered expansion light transit vehicle (LTV). <br /> The Orange-Alamance Connector will introduce off-peak fixed-route transit service along <br /> U.S. 70 connecting Mebane, Efland and Hillsborough between 10am and 3pm, Monday - <br /> Friday (approximately 5 hours daily).
