l~ SOCIAL'USTICE VISION In working to achieve social justice, Orange County shall perform government duties including policy making and budgeting with the express objectives of; 1. Eliminating oppression and creating equal opportunity; 2. Creating a community where individuals may sufl"iciently provide for their own physical, social, and mental needs and the needs of their dependents; and to provide safety net mechanisms for those, whom for circumstances beyond their control, find themselves unable to do so; 3. Creating a community where no groups are targeted for harassment, intimidation or violence; 4. Balancing a a healthful environment with a sustainable economy; and 5. Encouraging and enabling all residents to participate civically. CO /~TIONS FOR OI L ]STIC Recommendations are grouped by social justice category. They take into account the input of residents gathered by staff and Commission members, as well as, the input of County Department Heads, the Human Services Management Team, a number of County Advisory Boards and Commissions, the Human Relations Commission and Commission for Women.
