Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Text Amendment -To review government- <br /> initiated amendments to the text of the UDO regarding recreational land uses, including <br /> shooting ranges. <br /> Michael Harvey, Planner III, reviewed the following Planning Board Ordinance <br /> Committee Notes: <br /> July 1, 2015— Planning Board Ordinance Review Committee (ORC) <br /> STAFF COMMENT: the ORC reviewed this item at its July 1, 2015 meeting where the <br /> following comments/questions were made: <br /> • Could a resident, on his own property, sponsor a club in his name and finance <br /> play on the field under this proposal? <br /> STAFF COMMENT: As the Ordinance is currently written the property owner would <br /> have to get a special use permit. The reason being the field is intended to serve the <br /> needs of the general public, even if they are members of a club or other similar <br /> organization, with respect to providing the use of a recreational facility. <br /> • So I can't develop a putting green on my property? <br /> STAFF COMMENT: You can have a recreational facility on your property and use it for <br /> recreational purposes. This would include a putting green. From my standpoint the <br /> problem occurs when you open the recreational amenity up for public use/access. <br /> When this occurs you change the nature of the use of property and, I believe, it becomes <br />
