<br />Upon motion duly made and seconded Aid to Blind grants rre re enprovsd
<br />as follows:
<br />Grant of inaTg L. Rioore - reJected.
<br />Grant of Nora Neshington - reduced from $51.00 per month to .5,'I}7.00
<br />per month.
<br />Grant of James P!. Hamlet for 539.00 per month - approved.
<br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, November 26th was declared a Holiday
<br />for all county employees.
<br />Upon motl on of Commissioner Hobbs, seconded by Commissioner Efland, it
<br />was drdsred that due to erroneous listing the 1953 tax valuation on Campus
<br />Cafe, Chapel Hill, be reduced from X5,000 to $2,000.
<br />Unon motion of Conmissl oner Hobbs and seconded by Commissioner Efland the
<br />following resolution was unanimously adoete d:
<br />i'1~REAS, the County of Orenre has funds on deposit with the Durham 3enk
<br />and mrust Company, Hillsboro, N. C., end it is now no cessery that certain
<br />changes and nrovi sions be mode as tc the same.
<br />1. To Change the acoount heretofore desLm=tnd as "Orange County
<br />Funds, Margaret E. Howard, Actdrig'Couaty Accountant" to "Orange
<br />County Funds, 5. ;d. Gattis, County Accountant".
<br />2. Te change the account heretofore designated "Vlelfare Account,
<br />fifergaret E. Howard, Acting County Accountant" to "{Velfere"Account,
<br />S. M. Gattis, County Accountant".
<br />3. To honor and peg all checks or drafts on any of said ftinda
<br />signed by S. M. Gattis, County Accountant, without requiring the
<br />counter signature of any other person or official of the said County.
<br />The foregoing resolution effective on and after November 2, 195.3•
<br />VtHEREAS, Orange County has recently completed its Blcente nniel Celebratic
<br />end the county and Its citizens are rS.cher in the appreciation of its heritage
<br />through the various events of the celebration--the laying of the cornerstone c
<br />the new court house, the dadiea ti oa of the new court house, the publication of
<br />the history of the County--Orange County 1752-1952--, the writing, prodssction
<br />and presentation of the historic pageant, "T}Nr ROAD TO ORANGE", end
<br />V11imREAS, many of the citizens of the county devoted freely of their time,
<br />talents and energies to the successful accomplishment of these avant s, end
<br />4t7H';REAS, it is fit and proper that this body should in this manner recog•
<br />ni ze the debt of the county to those of its citizens and others who mods the
<br />Bic entanniel Celebratl on possible,
<br />N0:'1, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Board of Commiss ionsrs of Orange
<br />County in regular meeting assembled on this the 2nd day of November, 1953, the
<br />Orange County recognizes with appreciation and thanks the work of the varloua
<br />committees and individuals who r;eve of their time, talents and energies freely
<br />in the six-day celebration of Orange County's Bicentenni el Observance, and
<br />pert Scularly to its ci ti zene and others does the county re cognize, the
<br />following:
