1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: December 15, 2015 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 11-a <br /> SUBJECT: Upper Neuse River Basin Association —Appointment(s) <br /> DEPARTMENT: Board of Commissioners PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): Under Separate Cover INFORMATION CONTACT <br /> Clerk's Office, 245-2130 <br /> Information about UNRBA <br /> UNRBA By Laws <br /> PURPOSE: To consider making an appointment(s) to the Upper Neuse River Basin <br /> Association. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Upper Neuse River Basin Association was formed in 1996 to provide an <br /> ongoing forum for cooperation on water quality protection and water resource planning and <br /> management within the 770-square-mile watershed. Seven (of the 8) municipalities, 6 counties, <br /> and local Soil and Water Conservation Districts in the watershed voluntarily formed the <br /> Association. Each of the thirteen jurisdictions in the watershed, the six county Soil and Water <br /> Conservation Districts collectively, and South Granville Water and Sewer Authority elect one <br /> Director and one Alternate Director to the UNRBA Board of Directions. DEAPR Staff Person <br /> Tom Davis serves currently in the role of Alternate Director since there were no other <br /> Commissioners interested when this appointment was made in October 2012, <br /> The following information is for Board consideration: <br /> • Appointment of two (2) Commissioners/citizen to the Upper Neuse River Basin <br /> Association for a three-year term ending November 30, 2018. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): To consider making an appointment to the Upper Neuse River Basin <br /> Association. <br />
