RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommended that the BOCC receive the update from <br /> staff on the Orange County Community Giving Fund and provide comments and direction as <br /> appropriate. <br /> Bob Marotto made the following PowerPoint presentation: <br /> Community Giving Fund <br /> Where We Are, Where We're Going <br /> History <br /> • Started in 2013 <br /> • A young endeavor still <br /> • Has grown and continues to grow in potential <br /> - i.e. Animal Services dog play yard <br /> • Managed by the Triangle Community Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization <br /> - They're able to handle various types of donations <br /> - They receive a small percentage for their services <br /> Stats <br /> • Since 2013, $71,000 has been raised <br /> • Growing annually <br /> - 2013 - $9,300 <br /> - 2014 - $32,600 <br /> - 2015 - $30,000 (thus far) <br /> • In 2014, it was incorporated into Combined Giving Campaign <br /> - County employees gave $7,000 that year <br /> Scope <br /> • Creative funding opportunities <br /> - Stocks, Real Property, etc <br /> • Earmarked funds <br /> • Rolls over annually <br /> • Relieves fear of donating to general fund <br /> Opportunities <br /> • County-wide Initiatives <br /> - Combined Giving Campaign <br /> - Veteran's Memorial <br /> - Family Success Alliance <br /> - My Brother's Keeper <br /> • Presentations Underway with Civic Groups <br /> - Will talk about opportunities to do more in the County and dedicated giving to <br /> public pursuits <br /> Commissioner Burroughs referred to the unallocated donations, and asked if Bob <br /> Marotto could expand on these $3000. <br /> Bob Marotto said these are people who have given gifts that were not earmarked for a <br /> specific purpose. <br /> Commissioner Burroughs asked if there is a process to determine where these <br /> unallocated funds go. <br />
