3 <br /> ethnic background; age; military service; disability; and familial, residential or economic <br /> status. <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with receiving this update and <br /> discussing potential policy initiatives. Should the Board adopt certain policies going forward <br /> such policies may create increases in the costs associated with contracting for certain goods <br /> and/or services. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board receive an update on Orange <br /> County's living wage policies and various living wage activities across the state, discuss <br /> potential initiatives related to the living wage based on information from staff and the County <br /> Attorney, and provide direction to staff on next steps regarding potential County living wage <br /> policy initiatives. <br />
