The Department on Aging has received additional revenue for the following programs: <br /> • Senior Center Instructors — receipt of an additional $23,000 in class enrollment <br /> fees to pay for Senior Center instructors and related class expenses. <br /> • State Senior Center General Purpose funds — receipt of an additional $7,600 <br /> from the N.0 Division of Aging and Adult Services General Purpose funding to be <br /> used to cover temporary personnel costs and program supplies. <br /> • Sportsplex funds — receipt of $2,750 from the Sportsplex for after-hours use and <br /> staffing costs of the Central Orange Senior Center classrooms. <br /> • Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) — receipt of <br /> $2,000 from the N.C. Department of Insurance, through the Triangle J Area <br /> Agency on Aging. These funds will be used for recruitment and training of <br /> volunteers to help seniors to better understand Medicare and aspects related to it. <br /> • Senior Lunch Programs — additional funds of $10,188 awarded from the Home <br /> and Community Care Block Grant through the Triangle J Area Agency on Aging to <br /> purchase meals and related supplies for the Senior Lunch Programs at the <br /> Seymour and Central Orange Senior Centers. This increases the Congregate <br /> Meals award to $149,139 for FY 2015-16. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds. (See <br /> Attachment 1, column 5) <br /> 6. Based on current year and historical collections, the Department on Aging anticipates <br /> receiving additional revenue of $19,000 in wellness class fees, which will pay <br /> wellness instructors and class expenses related to the Senior Citizen Health <br /> Promotion Wellness Program. The department also anticipates receiving an <br /> additional $8,000 from the senior centers' "Fit Feet" services, which will procure <br /> medical supplies and nursing support. The department has received an additional <br /> $7,750 in grant funds from UNC Hospital in support of the Senior Striders walking <br /> program, which will support supplies and services.
