DRAFT COUNTY PROFILE (DATA) ELEMENT APPEIVDIX <br />The information contained within this <br />appendix is only a portion of the final <br />version. It will be updated with <br />relevant formulas, definitions and <br />methodologies when the other seven <br />Elements are prepared during Phase H. <br />Includes formulas, methodologies, and definitions relevant to information found in the <br />County Profile (Data) Element. <br />SECTION - r c o <br />ETJ — Extra territorial _jurisdiction <br />The legal ability of a municipal government to exercise land use planning authority beyond its <br />normal incorporated boundaries. <br />Township <br />A subdivision of a county that may be used for voting districts or service provision. In Orange <br />County, five of the seven current townships served as voting districts in the nineteenth century, „ <br />but none have legal standing today. <br />Municipality <br />A city, town or community incorporated for local self - government. <br />MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area) <br />An MSA is a metropolitan area made up of central counties that include central cities and <br />outlying counties and meet specific population, residency and employment statistics. <br />The Metropolitan Statistical Area standards were revised for use with Census 2000 data. <br />Source: US Census Bureau, US Department of Commerce <br />• �e <br />Population figures are obtained primarily from the following two sources: <br />1.
