ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: November 5, 2007 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. 3 - q <br />SUBJECT: Resolution Recognizing Elizabeth Mason Carter for Community Service <br />DEPARTMENT: BOCC <br />PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Resolution Commissioner Moses Carey, Jr. <br />Donna Baker, Clerk to the <br />Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners ((919) 245-2130 <br />PURPOSE: To consider a resolution recognizing Elizabeth Mason Carter, retiring Chapel Hill- <br />Carrboro City Schools Board of Education member, for her community service. <br />BACKGROUND: Elizabeth "Liz" Carter has served on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools <br />Board of .Education for over 13 years. During her tenure, she has held the positions of both <br />chair and vice-chair. She was once a student in the very same school system where she has <br />since provided guidance and leadership. In addition to the school board, she has also served <br />on numerous committees and non-profits. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the attached <br />resolution recognizing Elizabeth Mason Carter for her outstanding service to the educational <br />community and the people of Orange County. <br />
