2 <br /> • The Solid Waste Department has experienced increased requests for recycling roll <br /> carts from residents in the existing rural service area. Currently, the department <br /> needs to order 444 additional cans to meet the current and anticipated demand. <br /> This budget amendment provides for a fund balance appropriation of$24,744 from <br /> the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund for the purchase of these additional roll cans for <br /> the rural curbside recycling program. <br /> This budget amendment provides for these fund balance appropriations from the Solid <br /> Waste Enterprise Fund for FY 2015-16. (See Attachment 1, column 1) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact <br /> associated with these items. <br /> Animal Services/Spay and Neuter Fund <br /> 2. Animal Services has received an additional $334 from the sale of Spay/Neuter T-shirts. <br /> These funds will be used to purchase additional shins for sale. This budget amendment <br /> provides for the receipt of these additional funds within the separate Spay/Neuter fund, <br /> outside of the General Fund. (See Attachment 1, column 2) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are <br /> applicable to this agenda item <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, <br /> gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> Department on Aging <br /> 3. As of June 34, 2015, the department collected $7,125 from United Way for the voluntary <br /> income tax assistance (VITA) Program. These funds were earmarked as deferred <br /> revenue/in-flows, for use in FY 2416-16. Funds will provide for department supplies and <br /> seasonal staff hours. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional <br /> funds. (See Attachment 1, column 3) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br /> applicable to this agenda item <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br /> The VITA program provides free federal and state income tax preparation to qualified <br /> low-to-middle income individuals. <br />
