5/13/2015 Orange County Government-Class Specification Bulletin <br /> 114 <br /> U <br /> 1t a� Public Transportation Driver* Class OCPI-1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY GOVERNMENT <br /> Established Date: Jan 1, 2012 <br /> Revision Date: Apr 3, 2012 <br /> SALARY RANGE <br /> $12.76-$14.29 Hourly <br /> DESCRIPTION: <br /> Performs a variety of routine and complex transportation work in driving a bus to transport passengers over <br /> specified routes to local or distant points according to a time schedule. Worts involves providing a safe, reliable, <br /> efficient, and customer friendly transit service to all resident of Orange County; completes a manifest, Council <br /> of Government's reports, mileage reports, and fuel log reports; maintaining knowledge of Orange County road <br /> systems; and providing administrative support by assisting in the Orange Public Transportation office as <br /> needed. <br /> *This is a safety sensitive position and participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required. <br /> EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: <br /> Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: <br /> Operating a variety of multi-passenger vehicles requiring a commercial driver's license to transport Orange <br /> County residents. <br /> Operating safety equipment including hydraulic lift, wheelchairs, and mobility security devices to ensure <br /> passenger safety and well-being; assists passengers on and off vehicle. <br /> Operating open-air radios while protecting client confidentiality. <br /> Maintaining daily vehicle inspection reports, driver's manifest, supervisory notification, and Motor Pool <br /> notification. <br /> Contacting emergency service providers when medical issues arise. <br /> Collecting passenger fees; documents and receipts; forwards for deposit. <br /> Picking up and transporting animals during inclement weather. <br /> Performing light office duties such as data entry tasks, justification of manifests, and answering the telephone. <br /> Assisting administrative staff by acting as dispatcher as needed. <br /> Receiving and/or reviewing various records and reports such as driver's manifest, Council of Government's <br /> report, American Disabilities Act/ Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, North Carolina <br /> Department of Transportation regulations, and geographical information system mapping book. <br /> TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS: <br /> • Knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies on Transportation as they pertain to the <br /> performance of duties of the Public Transportation Driver. <br /> • Knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and <br /> http:llagency.gover rim entjobs.corn/or angecountyncldefault.cfm?acti on=specbulIet r1&CIassSpeclD=851840&header footer=0 112 <br />
