5/13/2015 Orange County Government-Class Specification Bulletin <br /> 110 <br /> Transportation Assistant Class Code: <br /> Administrator* 1816 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY GOVERNMENT <br /> Revision Date: Sep 17, 2012 <br /> SALARY RANGE <br /> $44,126.00-$72,307.00 Annually <br /> DESCRIPTION: <br /> Under limited supervision, performs administrative and supervisory work in assisting with the planning and <br /> directing of the transportation operations by overseeing transportation staffing, scheduling, services, and <br /> fleet management. Work involves supervising assigned staff; preparing daily schedules for all activities <br /> within the department; planning and contracting all transportation services with area Human Service <br /> Agencies and private organizations in Orange County; preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reports and <br /> attending departmental/divisional/board meetings reporting monthly to active members; assisting with the <br /> completion of Community Transportation Plan grant application, Rural Operating Assistance Program grant <br /> applications, and the Capitol Improvement Plan; assisting with development of new/expansion routes and <br /> long-range planning; serving as the network administrator for the Computerized Transportation System; and <br /> representing Orange Public Transportation at local, State, and Federal levels. Reports to the Transportation <br /> Manager. <br /> * This is a safety sensitive position and participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required. <br /> EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: <br /> ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS <br /> Supervises department employees which involves such duties as instructing, assigning and reviewing <br /> work, maintaining standards, acting on employee problems, selecting new employees, appraising employee <br /> performance, recommending promotions, discipline, termination and salary increases. <br /> Plans and coordinates daily transportation for citizens of Orange County; compiles, reviews, and verifies all <br /> transit services provided to agencies, Department of Social Service clients, Department on Aging clients, <br /> Health Department clients, private non-profit agencies, and private citizens; prepares contracts for <br /> agencies for Orange Public Transportation services. <br /> Prepares daily schedule and drivers' manifests to ensure all transportation requests are met; verifies the <br /> daily activity of all drivers and Administrative Assistant. <br /> Supervises, schedules, and directs all drivers throughout their daily assignments; provides guidance and <br /> information on client's addresses and destinations to various medical facilities, educational facilities, <br /> businesses, and other locations in Orange, Durham, Caswell, and Alamance counties. <br /> Serves as Vehicle Maintenance Administrator for the department; administers up-to-date and precise <br /> maintenance and inspections records on the entire fleet of vehicles; schedules routine and emergency <br /> maintenance on a weekly basis to ensure all vehicles are operating in a safe manner. <br /> Performs manual compilation of monthly service contracts which are billed based on vehicle mileage and/or <br /> vehicle driver hours, vehicle maintenance and fuel consumption; assigns invoices for purchases, <br /> maintenance, and repairs; prepares monthly and yearly spreadsheet on accounts receivable; prepares <br /> financial reports for local and State governments, boards, and agencies. <br /> http:llagency.gover rim entj obs.corn/or angecountyncldefault.cfm?action=specbulietin&ClassSpeclD=8789 25&headerfooter=0 112 <br />
