focus was on implementation of the Music and Memory program which helps persons with <br /> dementia regain touch with music that they love, provide avenues for memory recall, and <br /> reduce some of the more negative behaviors associated with Alzheimer's disease and other <br /> dementias. <br /> Winners of the 2015 Long Term Care Quality Service Awards were able to successfully <br /> implement Music in My Mind/Orange County program by working with families and volunteers <br /> to create a personalized list of songs for their residents and clients with dementia. "The Nature of Orange" Photography Contest <br /> The Board considered congratulating the "The Nature of Orange" 2015 Photography <br /> Contest winners and thanking the judges and all those who participated in this community <br /> event. <br /> Lynne Hecht, Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation (DEAPR), <br /> reviewed the following background: <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation (DEAPR) <br /> completed its annual "The Nature of Orange" Photography Contest in May 2015. The goal of <br /> the contest is to inspire exploration, celebration and appreciation of Orange County's diverse <br /> landscapes and outdoor experiences. Photographers help document the beauty and diversity <br /> of <br /> our natural resources, and our people connecting to their environment. <br /> A total of 116 photographs were submitted in May 2015. A panel of judges selected <br /> first, <br /> second and third place winners from the Youth and Adult divisions. In addition, judges <br /> identified <br /> two additional Honorable Mention awards per age group since there were so many high-quality <br /> submissions. This year's judges were photographers Laura Branan, Chris Graebner and David <br /> Schaub. <br />
