Commissioner Jacobs supported Commissioner Dorosin's concern about public <br /> comment for the bond. He asked that the public be clearly informed about their opportunities <br /> to give comment at the meetings on September 15th and October 6th <br /> Commissioner Jacobs petitioned that he would like the Board to revisit their naming <br /> policy for facilities. He said he would support Commissioner Price's petition to be able to name <br /> rooms at facilities, and also to name a facility after someone who raises or contributes the <br /> money to construct a building, including living persons. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs petitioned about protocol regarding developments in the <br /> municipalities that affect Orange County, such as Obey Creek, and a development in <br /> Hillsborough on the Collins Ridge property. Commissioner Jacobs said there are many <br /> impacts on County services with these developments, and the Board needs to express their <br /> concerns. <br /> Chair McKee asked if Commissioner Jacobs' petition seeks to develop a protocol. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs said yes. <br /> Commissioner Price said the Community Home Trust is having their annual fundraiser <br /> on Friday, September 25th at the Carolina Inn. <br /> Commissioner Price said she attended the National Association of Counties (NACo) <br /> conference, and Orange County was in the spotlight at one of their workshops on workforce <br /> development and economic development. <br /> Commissioner Price said at the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners <br /> (NCACC) there was a 4-H student representing the Orange County 4-H. She said the NCACC <br /> distributed a 2015 County Snapshot, which she would share with the Board. <br /> Commissioner Price petitioned to have the Fairview ballpark dedicated to and named <br /> for James "Junebug" Stewart, a person responsible for getting young people in that area <br /> involved in sports. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs petitioned in support of Commissioner Price's petition for Mr. <br /> Stewart. <br /> Chair McKee said he has been approached by a former Commissioner to adopt a <br /> resolution in support of small solar arrays, and he would bring this to Chair/Vice Chair. <br /> 4. Orange County Long Term Care Quality Service Awards <br /> The Board considered recognizing the winners of the 2015 Orange County Long Term <br /> Care Quality Service Awards. <br /> Janice Tyler, Department on Aging Director, introduced Alex Castro as their newly <br /> elected Advisory Board on Aging Board Chair. <br /> Dr. Donna Prather, Advisory Board on Aging member, gave the following background <br /> on the award, as well as some information on each award winner: <br /> As part of the Orange County 2012-17 Master Aging Plan, the Department on Aging <br /> was asked to develop a mechanism to help increase the quality of care provided in Orange <br /> County's long-term care facilities and home care organizations. In 2013, the Advisory Board on <br /> Aging created the Orange County Long Term Care (LTC) Learning Collaborative to bring <br /> administrators and direct-care staff together to learn about and share successful approaches <br /> to quality care. This is the second year that the Orange County Advisory Board on Aging and <br /> the Long Term Care Learning Collaborative have offered to long term care organizations the <br /> opportunity to apply for a Long Term Care Quality Service Award. <br /> Each year the Advisory Board selects an evidence-based or promising quality program <br /> for long term care providers to learn about and implement within the year.
