County Attorney's Report <br /> John Roberts said there are a couple of reasons that the SUP hearings must proceed <br /> as they do. He said recently court cases are requiring more specificity from decision-makers, <br /> and also Orange County has one of the most complicated UDOs in the State. He commended <br /> Michael Harvey for the work he does interpreting the UDO for the Board. <br /> 11. Appointments <br /> a. Durham Technical Community College Board of Trustees <br /> The Board considered making an appointment to the Durham Technical Community <br /> College Board of Trustees. After a thorough review of applications submitted for the Orange <br /> County seat on the Durham Technical Community College Board of Trustees, Commissioners <br /> Jacobs and Price are recommending the appointment of Gerald Ponder. <br /> Commissioner Price said applications were reviewed, and it was decided to nominate <br /> Mr. Ponder. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Price, seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to <br /> appoint Gerald Ponder to a first full 4 year term (Position #2) as the BOCC appointed <br /> representative with a term expiration as of 06/30/2019. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> Commissioner Rich said she met with Commissioner Pelissier over the summer and <br /> discussed the boards that are required to answer additional questions and the possibility of <br /> adding Durham Tech to this listing. <br /> Chair McKee said this had already been done. <br /> Commissioner Pelissier said she did not realize that the additional questions were <br /> already in place when she and Commissioner Rich spoke. <br /> 12. Board Comments <br /> Commissioner Price said when the Board gets agreements and contracts from other <br /> jurisdictions, she asked if the words ethnicity and color could be added in the section that <br /> relates to the protective classes in these agreements. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs thanked the staff for the report on the usage of pesticides on <br /> County grounds and buildings. He said he would like to see this report referred to the <br /> Commission for the Environment. He said some of the listed pesticides are suspected in the <br /> decline of Monarch Butterflies and the honeybee, and he would like to see a bit more dialogue <br /> on the matter <br />
