"The Nature of Orange" Photography Contest <br /> 28 The Board considered congratulating the "The Nature of Orange" 2015 Photography <br /> 29 Contest winners and thanking the judges and all those who participated in this community <br /> 30 event. <br /> 31 Lynne Hecht, Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation (DEAPR), <br /> 32 reviewed the following background: <br /> 33 <br /> 34 BACKGROUND: <br /> 35 The Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation (DEAPR) <br /> 36 completed its annual "The Nature of Orange" Photography Contest in May 2015. The goal of <br /> 37 the contest is to inspire exploration, celebration and appreciation of Orange County's diverse <br /> 38 landscapes and outdoor experiences. Photographers help document the beauty and diversity of <br /> 39 our natural resources, and our people connecting to their environment. <br /> 40 A total of 116 photographs were submitted in May 2015. A panel of judges selected first, <br /> 41 second and third place winners from the Youth and Adult divisions. In addition, judges identified <br /> 42 two additional Honorable Mention awards per age group since there were so many high-quality <br /> 43 submissions. This year's judges were photographers Laura Branan, Chris Graebner and David <br /> 44 Schaub. <br /> 45 Winners received a congratulatory letter, certificate, and a small monetary award. <br /> 46 During the month of August, the photographs were displayed at the Orange County Visitors <br /> 47 Center in Hillsborough, the Orange County Public Library, and the Chapel Hill/Orange County <br /> 48 Visitors Center. In addition, winning photographs are displayed on the Orange County DEAPR <br /> 49 website under the "breaking news" section http://www.orangecountync.gov/deapr/, on the <br /> 50 department's Facebook Page, and will be "streaming" around the county on the visual monitors. <br />
