From: Pete Doorn,Special Remediation Branch Head Subject: SEPA Project# 15-€1597, Proposed Expansion of Emerson Waldorf Private School, Orange County, North Carolina The Superfund Section has reviewed the proximity of CERCLIS and other sites sander their Jurisdiction to the proposed redevelopment/expansion of the Emerson Waldorf private school. The Emerson Waldorf School is proposing to re-develop and expand their existing campus.The plans are envisioned to support an increase in student population from approximately 260 students to approximately 350 students by 2030. The school obtains its potable water from a supply well located on the campus. One site was identified within a 1-mile radius of the proposed project as noted on the attached map and in the table below. Due to the proximity of groundwater contamination at the identified site and the projected increased pumping of the school well to meet future demands for potable water, it is strongly recommended that site files be reviewed and appropriate precautions taken to ensure a continued safe water supply for the school.
