I believe that I represent the unprejudiced attitude of pagan <br /> Greece and Roman toward the other, who is not the other, but only ourselves in different garb. <br /> Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br /> There is a pressing need in America for following Emma Lazarus call to embrace the <br /> downtrodden, which I define today as the pitiful women and children of Central America who <br /> seek asylum with us. My mother was a third generation Irish girl in Boston, where being Irish <br /> had been hardly better than being black in the states of the old confederacy.
