I studied Political Science, US History and completed a semester Urban Studies <br /> program in Chicago that gave the opportunity to meet with different constituents and hear their <br /> unique concerns. I went on to complete a Masters in African American History at the University <br /> of Illinois-Chicago. I have also worked with ethnically and economically diverse populations as <br /> an employee in Planned Parenthood clinics, a public librarian, and now as a Human Services <br /> Specialist with DSS. I am particularly interested in protecting the most vulnerable in our <br /> communities and creating service environments that welcome those who may have intersecting <br /> identities such as gender variance and poverty, or disability and ethnic minority status. How can <br /> we create spaces that make all feel seen, heard, valued?
