My academic background is <br /> a combination of microbiology, biochemistry and botany with a concentration on organism <br /> interactions. My tenure in DPH introduced me to health outcomes and mechanisms to measure <br /> those outcomes. My training in the biological sciences as well as the activities related to health <br /> policy development has given me a unique view of how policy development and impact must be <br /> balanced to improve the public health for residents. <br /> Reasons for wanting to serve on this board: <br /> While I was employed I realized the impact the local Boards of Health had on how our public <br /> health actions could be put into place in NC. I think I have a somewhat unique perspective to <br /> bring to the Board to ensure that Orange County continues to be a leader in public health <br /> activities that are supported at the local level.
