9 <br />o Skill in interpersonal relations. <br />o Skill in maintaining records and preparing reports. <br />o Skill in making decisions accurately and rapidly. <br />o Skill in oral and written communication. <br />SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Deputy Emergency Management Director/Communications. <br />assigns work in terms of very general instructions requiring the use of much judgment. Completed <br />work is spot-checked for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of the final results. <br />GUIDELINES: Guidelines include relevant federal and state laws, the rules and regulations of state <br />and national crime information centers, county ordinances, department policies and procedures, and <br />supervisory instructions. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in <br />application. <br />COMPLEXITY: The work consists of varied training and administrative duties. The variety of <br />duties performed contributes to the complexity of the work. <br />SCOPE AND EFFECT: 'The purpose of this position is to oversee daily operations and to train <br />department personnel and ensure all personnel are properly certified. Successful performance <br />contributes to the effective operation of the department and the protection of community life and <br />property. <br />PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers, other county employees, <br />representatives of other public safety agencies,. representatives of service and support agencies, and <br />the general public. <br />PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve <br />problems, provide services, train employees in technical procedures, motivate personnel, and settle <br />matters. <br />PHYSICAL DEMA]N1~S: The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, or stooping. The <br />employee occasionally lifts light objects and uses equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. <br />WORK ENVIROZ`1M]ENT: The work is typically performed in an office that is sometimes noisy. <br />SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: This position has direct supervision <br />over Telecommunications personnel working shifts with 24/7 coverage. . <br />
