Approval of Orange County's School Construction Standards <br />This item was removed and placed at the end of the consent agenda for separate consideration. <br />~ Installation Services Contract at 9-1-1 Center Using 2005 LETPP Funding <br />The Board will approve a contract with Wireless Communications for installation services in the <br />amount of $52,733.51 and authorized the Manager to sign. <br />VOTE ON CONSENT AGENDA: UNANIMOUS <br />ITEMS REMOVED FROM THE CONSENT AGENDA: <br />gg Applications for Property Tax Exemption <br />The Board considered six untimely applications for exemption/exclusion from ad valorem <br />taxation for the 2007 tax year. <br />Commissioner Jacobs asked staff to track with citizens if the tax inserts were effective <br />with the Homestead exemption. <br />Jo Roberson said that there has been a big drive to make seniors aware of the <br />Homestead exemption tax over the last few years. She said that the applications may not be <br />from tax inserts entirely, but from questions being asked when taxpayers call or when taxpayers <br />have issues with payment. There is an influx of calls about Homestead exemption after tax bills <br />go out. <br />Commissioner Jacobs said to track this and Jo Roberson said that she would ask staff to <br />inquire of callers how they heard about the Homestead exemption. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Nelson to <br />approve six untimely applications for exemption/exclusion from ad valorem taxation for the 2007 <br />tax year. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />,~'~ r. Commission for Women (CFW) Bylaws Amendment <br />The Board considered reviewing and amending the Commission for Women's Bylaws to <br />include a mission statement, delegation of hiring and supervisory duties, and other minor <br />changes for the purpose of clarification. <br />Laura Blackmon introduced Shoshanna Smith, new Director of the Office of Human <br />Rights and Relations. <br />Commissioner Gordon said that she spoke with Geof Gledhill before the meeting to <br />clarify something on page 6, article 6, section 3, Absentee Votes; also on page 8, article 9, <br />section 6. She asked if this was a common practice and Geof Gledhill had suggested that this <br />be sent back to the County Attorney for clarification. <br />Commissioner Gordon said that she was not familiar with this procedure of voting by <br />proxy of boards and commissions and neither was Geof Gledhill. <br />
